Stone Lintels
With most of our structural openings over 2m wide, and with hundreds of tons to support, we simply could not have relied on a natural stone lintel to take the load.
With most of our structural openings over 2m wide, and with hundreds of tons to support, we simply could not have relied on a natural stone lintel to take the load. So we enlisted the help of a local re-constituted stone company, Hampton stone of Stroud (www.hamptonstone.co.uk). This enabled us to put structural steel into the new stone lintels to counter the bending moment – the lintels were made using a semi-dry cast method in beautifully crafted moulds with a Bath / Cotswold aggregate to produced that weathered limestone look.
