Steel Erection

Very little to say about this section of the project, accept that it took approximately 2 months to plan and detail the off-site construction of this very complicated hybrid steel structure and just under 2 days to put the whole thing together. Micklewrights Structures Ltd from Dudley – were simply brilliant. They were able to take our ARCHiCAD 3D model place it into their StruWalker 3D structural steel program, and produce this highly complex meccano set – that went up like a dream, with the minimal of fuss and ZERO errors. The steel structure sits on 4 different levels, but as the original Hanson concrete slabs are not an accurate building material (slabs varied in thickness between 178mm to 208mm) every single detail on site had to be surveyed perfectly.
